Dr. Kuykendall earned his B.A. in English Literature and graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina where he was an NCAA Division I Swimmer and All American. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Medical Center. While in medical school he was awarded the Hand Scholarship. He trained in general surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and completed his urology residency at Texas A&M Health Science Center, Scott and White Medical Center. He was given the Wiggley Award for Research and the Texas Surgical Research Award. He was fortunate enough to earn an International Volunteers in Urology Resident Scholarship for which he traveled to Mozambique, Africa to perform surgery and assist in the teaching of physicians in the region. He completed a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California with Dr. Gary Leach who is a pioneer in the field. He has presented scientific research at a number of major meetings including the American Urological Association national meeting, the International Continence Society world meeting, and the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology world meeting. He has published in a number of journals including the Journal of Urology, International Journal of Urology, and UroToday.

Dr. Kuykendall practices all aspects of general urology and is trained in laparoscopy, robotics, and minimally invasive surgery. His fellowship training and special interests include treatment of pelvic organ prolapse, surgery for pelvic floor reconstruction, male and female incontinence, and voiding dysfunction. Dr. Kuykendall is board certified with American Board of Urology.

Dr. Kuykendall moved to Kansas City where his wife grew up. He has two children and a big happy dog. He finds time to compete in triathlons and remains an avid coffee drinker. He is proud to say that he has now lived in every major bar-b-que area of the country.
