Dr. Susan D. Sweat joined KCUC on January 1, 2004. She graduated from Baker University in 1990 and received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1994. She completed her urologic training at the Mayo Clinic in 2000. She was a staff physician in the Department of Urology at Mayo Clinic for three and a half years before moving back to Kansas City. She has authored and co-authored many articles and abstracts in the field of urology.
Dr. Sweat practices all aspects of general urology and specializes in the following:
Benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH): minimally invasive surgery, laser surgery green light laser prostatectomy
Urolithiasis: (Kidney stones, ureteral stone, bladder stones) shockwave lithotripsy, metabolic management, percutaneous nephrostolithotomy, and ureteroscopy
Bladder Cancer: cystectomy- Open and robotic, minimally invasive therapy, neobladder, and ileal conduit
Kidney Cancer: nephron sparing (partial nephrectomy) open and robotic
Prostate Cancer: Radical retro pubic prostatectomy- open and robotic minimally invasive surgery
Neuro-Urology: Voiding dysfunction, neurogenic bladder botox, Interstim
Ureteral surgery: cancer UPJ obstruction, stricture disease
Vasectomies: both scalpel and non-scalpel techniques
Female urology: incontinence and restoration
Dr. Sweat has been certified by the American Board of Urology since 2002. She is a member of American Urological Association, Kansas Urological Society, Missouri Urological Association, and National Association for Continence and the Society of Women in Urology. She is licensed in both Missouri and Kansas.
